Program Description
REMSA’s Paramedic Program is 1277 hours in length and takes 12 months to complete.
The Paramedic Program prepares candidates for a career in EMS through its curriculum
and excellence in education. At the completion of the course, the student shall have
the cognitive and psychomotor skills to competently perform all skills of the EMT-Basic,
EMT-Intermediate, plus advanced airway management, surgical cricothyrotomy, needle
thoracostomy, electrocardiogram interpretation, cardiac defibrillation/cardioversion/external
pacing, intravenous access, intraosseous infusion, and administration of a wide range
of medications. The REMSA Paramedic Program is broken into three Phases; Didactic, Clinical,
and Field Internship.

An additional 14 hours of coursework is selected from the College of Extended Studies curriculum according to the paramedic students interest.

The Student will also be responsible for presenting 3 written and 2 oral patient case studies during the Clinical phase. The Clinical Phase is a 36 hour a week commitment.
